UKENS BILDE

We had the pleasure to host Jessica Harvey (USA) in the three months of April, May and June 2023.

While at NKD she collected a small stone for each day of the stay. In the end she made this telling sircel of the stones she choosed to represent the timeline and environment of her temporary home at NKD.

Digging through public and private archives, I work as an artist and writer, conducting long term investigations of fractures within natural, historical, and personal events, paying close attention to the interpretation of facts, which often changes based on the narrator.

I often make work using intimate aspects of the physical body without revealing the actual human form in its entirety. Bone fragments, human hair, heartbeats, and the sounds of daybreak act as inspiration to illustrate the stories and rituals tied to death and living. Through humor and tragedy, I look for new ways of re-evaluating life, death, and the mythology of our own history.

Using photography, video, sound, and archival resources, the images and installations I make act as a catalyst for the exploration of the psychology that one attaches to memory and place, putting a particular emphasis on the labor of care.
