MT: I draw inspiration from my childhood, and the first twenty or so years of my life which I have spent in my hometown in northern Romania. Everything I do is now somehow seen through a lens which gives my work a particular flavour.

When you put these things together, the old magic of the forests alongside the rough magic of industry you somehow tap into an unconscious source or stream which is one of the main elements feeding my work. It’s about a version of the everyday where most things have been edited out from, unnecessary, and what you are left with is a thick, heavy and uneasy distillate. I have a strong affinity towards huge, deep, magnificent forests, old concrete industrial ruins along with modernist and utilitarian architecture, grand open spaces and fields which bring along the uncertainty of borders and frontiers.
